Employment Type:Part timeShift:Day ShiftDescription:Come join the Patient Access team at Mercy Medical Center, part of Trinity Health Of New England! Position PurposeThe Patient Access Representative is responsible for pre-registration, registration and admission functions for the Emergency Department at Mercy Medical Center.What you will do

• Performs complete and accurate pre-registrations, registration, and admission functions
• Verifies insurance requirements, obtains and understands insurance benefits
• Ensures that all entries concerning demographic, financial and advanced directives are accurate. Collects non-covered fees
• Ensures that financial protocols and requirements are met while providing caring access to service at Mercy Medical Center
• Has a clear understanding and explains hospital policies or regulations concerning valuables, patient's rights, HIPAA compliance, EMTALA, health care proxy, Notice to Medicare beneficiaries, and hospital mission

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent, college preferred.
• Medical terminology skills
• Relevant medical office, hospital / physicians billing or patient registration experience preferred
• Excellent customer service, verbal communication and interpersonal skills required
