Communicating with all customers exhibiting excellent customer service skills. Interviewing patients to assure proper scheduling, registration and certification of services on all patients in a timely and courteous manner. Update the Master Patient Index as needed. Utilizing a high level of customer service in all aspects of the job.Qualifications:Required:+ High school graduate or equivalent+ Requires typing skills, medical terminology, office proceduresPreferred:+ Data entry and customer service experience+ Excellent communication and interpersonalCertifications and Licenses Required:+ N/AScheduling Requirements:+ Per Diem - DayEssential Functions:Maintains accurate Master Patient Index and guarantor filesIdentifies and reports any duplication of the MPI to the Senior RegistrarConsistently collects co-payments from patients and receipts appropriatelyComplies with our policies on Advance Directives and Patient RightsProvides patients with all regulatory documents, obtains signatures, and witnesses all patients signatures with their ownCopies and attaches appropriate documents (insurance cards, personal I.D., scripts, referrals, etc.) to the face sheet for retention in the Patient Accounts Department when availableActively directs efforts toward efficient use of time.Makes customer needs a priorityVerifies accuracy of patient demographic information so to avoid duplicating a medical record.Performs unit courier services as requiredDemonstrates proficiency in following emergency notification procedures per policy.Demonstrates initiative and motivation in role; proactively addresses issues; identifies and resolves problems in an appropriate mannerKeeps noise levels at desk at a minimumIs flexible and responsive toward needs of department and assists in every way to meet patient care needsActively assist in the orientation and preceptorship of new employeesDemonstrates proficiency in navigating all computer programs based on job functionParticipates in workgroups and in-services; makes positive contributionsInteracts with patients and families in an empathetic, caring manner; acts as patient advocate.Works collaboratively with all healthcare professionalsDemonstrates telephone courtesy and initiative in addressing concerns of callerWork environment is organized, medical records are in proper location; patient confidentiality consistently maintainedAttends 100% of quarterly hospital-wide staff meetings and 80% of unit-based staff meetings.Recognized as an advocate for teamworkAssists in the throughput of patients within the departmentUses proper body mechanics in the care of patients when necessaryObtains upon employment and maintains unit/department competencies and standards.Contributes toward improving cost effectiveness and productivityChoosing RWJBarnabas Health!RWJBarnabas Health is the premier health care destination providing patient-centered,high-quality academic medicine in a compassionate and equitable manner, while deliveringa best-in-class work experience to every member of the team.
