Job Overview:

We currently have an opening for an On-Call Patient Access Representative to join our Portland, OR team. Greets, directs, checks in and registers patients; enters, updates and verifies pt. insurance information. Schedules outside services; assembles chart forms; updates ID sheet, etc. Secures signatures on release of information, required treatment and billing authorization and other legal documents as necessary. Scans documents in EMR. Maintains Incomplete Verification Worklist in EMR. Assists in insurance authorization process and financial counseling functions.

Schedule: On-Call (in-person)

Holidays: 9 observed holidays per year

Compensation range: The hired applicant's placement within the range is based on qualifications, professional experience and education.

Responsibilities:

Customer Relations Greets and accurately directs patients/families presenting for appointments and treatment.

Patient Information Accurately enters/updates patient information into computer system according to current applicable procedure at the time of registration. Insurance Information Accurately enters and updates patients insurance information in computer system according to current applicable procedure at the time of registration. Patient Check-in Performs check-in of patients who arrive for scheduled appointments or admissions. Insurance verification Verifies insurance coverage for all patients receiving services at the hospital. Updates registration encounters to reflect contact information. Responsible for maintaining the Incomplete Verification worklist in SHCIS. Insurance Authorization and Financial Counseling Assists as needed with insurance authorization process and in financial counseling functions of Shriners Hospital according to current applicable procedure/guidelines.

Qualifications:

Required

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 2 years expereince in patient access, insurance verification
  • 2 years expereince computer applications, typing, general office skills
  • 2 years clerical experience with the ability to coordinate, manage, and follow-up
  • COVID-19 Vaccination

Preferred

  • Associate in related field
