This is more than a job-it's an opportunity to be part of something bigger.Per-Diem (This is a day shift)OBJECTIVE SUMMARY: This position is located in the Clinics Department - interviews patient and family to collect required demographic/financial data and completes admission/registration forms. Provide front line customer service including reception and registration. Is responsible for performing clerical duties, facilitating communication, and is the liaison for Clinics staff.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Interviews patient or their representative to collect required demographic/financial data and completes admission/registration forms Updates and maintains accurate record of patient Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Verifies patient health insurance plan. Updates EMR with copay and eligibility information Responsible for calling overhead Code pages and drills Responsible for coordinating transfer and assembling patient transfer documentation packet Retrieving outside Hospital, Primary care, Specialist, and Pharmacy records at the request of staff Ordering office and stock supplies for unit and break room Responsible for performing clerical duties, facilitating communication and contributing to a smooth functioning, well equipped unit Performs other duties as assigned, some of which may be essential to the jobSKILLS: Possess effective time management, organization, and situational awareness skills in a fast paced environment Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Demonstrates effective verbal, written, and telephone communication skills Understanding of HIPAA and EMTALA rules Analytical skills to read and understand instructions, add and subtract numbers, and make relatively straight-forward comparisons between numbers and letters. Typing and/or computer skills. Communication skills necessary to explain policies or procedures, relay patients' needs to appropriate personnel, or otherwise communicate with others in situations requiring sensitivity and tact. Work is performed in accordance with instructions and procedures but incumbents must organize the work, set priorities, and request occasional exceptions when necessary.REQUIRED EDUCATION: High School level of communication and/or math skills. PREFERRED EDUCATION: HUC training preferred.REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: 1-2 years of previous experience plus 3-6 months of time in ER/Trauma center. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Health Unit Clerk Experience (HUC) and CNA certification preferredWORK ENVIRONMENT: Subject to frequent interruptions Involved with patients/residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies, etc., under all conditions and circumstances Subject to hostile and emotionally upset patients/residents, family members, personnel and visitors Communicates with medical staff, department personnel, and other staff Works beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary Subject to call back in emergency situations. Attends and participates in continuing educational programs Subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as to reactions from dust, disinfectants and other air contaminants Maintains a liaison with the patients/resident, their family, support departments, etc., to adequately plan for the patient/resident's carePHYSICAL DEMANDS: Walking or standing for an hour or more at a time, stooping and bending, reaching and grasping with arms and hands, proofreading and checking document for accuracy.BENEFITS:We take pride in the benefits package we provide our team members.
