Department: Patient Access: Float at Alexandria Clinic FTE (Full Time Equivalent) Full Time, 80 hours per pay period Pay$17.50 Starting Pay Actual rate of pay will be based on experienceHours (Must be Available to Work) Primary hours are Monday- Thursday 7:30am-5:00pm, Friday: every other week rotation of 7:30-5:00 pm or 9:30-6:30 pmEvenings - evenings until 8pm when needed due to planned and unplanned staffWeekend Rotation: Saturday and Sunday 8am-3:00 pm or when last patient leaves the building, and Holidays Job Description Patient Access Representative is responsible for serving patients' needs by scheduling appointments, registration of new patients, and check in and check out patients for appointments. Must have strong computer skills along with the ability to learn new protocols while incorporating into current work flow.Patient Registration
- Gathering, entering and updating all needed demographic information and entering and updating guarantor information.
- Updating existing and new insurances using software program to verify insurance status.
- Document when necessary signatures from patients are not able to be obtained due to virtual visit and update when needed.
- Encourage patient to use MyChart to update information including insurance information and sign required documents available through MyChart.
- Collect copays and payments as required.
Checking In Patients
- Read all appointment notes and messages to ensure paperwork is given to patients and unique situations are addressed following department and provider protocol.
- Follow billing protocols outlined by Patient Account Services.
- Reviews insurance eligibility responses and makes needed insurance updates.
Scheduling
- Answers calls in a friendly and professional manner.
- Schedules appointments utilizing cheat sheets to ensure accuracy.
- Correctly schedules lab appointments and uses Epic messaging to request needed orders from provider nurse pools.
- Reschedules missed or cancelled appointments as directed by nursing/provider protocols.
- Notifies nurse of additions or cancellations on same day schedule for specialty providers.
- Notifies Account Services on alert directs or as appropriate.
- Manages work queues to ensure patients are contacted and scheduled for needed appointment
Qualifications
- High School Graduate or Equivalent.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office and general computer knowledge.
- Previous Healthcare Experience preferred.
