Description Position at Norwalk Hospital Association Summary:To facilitate patient entry and maintain efficient patient flow. Ensure proper scheduling of both inpatients and outpatients, provide clear instructions to patients and ordering physicians. Assure proper charging of exams. Obtain all necessary insurance and documentation to ensure Medicare compliance and third party reimbursement. Assist patients when they arrive for exams, assist doctors at reception and film library and performing general film library duties. as well as being generally helpful to all who interact with the department of radiology.Responsibilities:Scheduling: Has sufficient knowledge of exams, and preps to schedule patients accurately. Coordinates exams with other sections giving consideration to prep and exam length. Ascertains special needs of patients. Full knowledge of exam rooms, and procedures to ensure proper bookings Telephone: Speaks Clearly ,and pleasantly, and identifies self. Locates parties appropriately Takes accurate messages. Direct Medical staff in using Dictaphone report system.Computer Input: Accurate computer entry. Proper charges entered. Changes and corrections made in timely manner. Updating new physicians and entering all information immediately.Communication: Informs departments of patient arrival. Assist all outpatient and family members as needed. Prompt and courteous attention to all outpatient's. Managing front desk waiting room.Knowledge of Film Library - Pull Radiology folders. Print and obtain Radiology Reports. Assist in film sign outs. Cover the film room. Able to contact personnel for after hour procedures. Make up daily work schedules. Write up films when necessary. Perform faxing and other paperwork as applicable.Functions effectively to achieve a high degree of teamwork. Cover when needed. Contact physician offices for additional information when needed. :Required: High school graduate, additional post high school, collage or secretarial school education preferred. prior clerical/administrative experience in a high volume customer service oriented office environment is preferred. Minimum Experience: zero to six months Desired: Must work well under pressure and be familiar with medical terminology. Requires effective interpersonal skills and strong communication skills.Salary Range: $16.50 - $23.00 Hourly
