DescriptionResponsible for front desk operations, which include patient scheduling & registration, insurance/eligibility verifications, reminder calls, check in/out, collection of payments, and coverage of phone/fax lines.
Serve as first point of contact for patients, visitors, staff, students and faculty. Answers questions and resolves moderate customer service concerns and refers more difficult issues to manager; adheres to department guidelines on referring patients/visitors to the appropriate area. Provides excellent customer and patient services support by setting appointments and providing phone coverage. Answers telephone and directs calls to the appropriate staff and relays pertinent information. Communicates with customers in a courteous, professional, cooperative and mature manner. Retrieves and files medical records, enters/updates patient information, and ensures patient's documents are scanned into the electronic systems. Identifies payer source, verifies insurance eligibility, financial status and assigns correct pay type. Assists patients with check-in process; checks out patients using electronic medical records system including inputting data, posting charges/payments, and searching and retrieving data. Faxes, copies and distributes medical record information for doctors and patients. Ensures confidentiality of all medical records and patient information. Works as part of a team with all clinic staff including management, nursing, and medical personnel. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. QualificationsHigh school and 3 years experience Education: Requires a basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. as might normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or GED. Experience: Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience. Certification/Licensing: NoneExperience in the Optometric industry preferred
