The Patient Account Specialist requires expertise and knowledge of all aspects of medical insurance billing and patient accounting. The position completes daily charge and payment entries in the patient billing software system. This position assists with implementing policies and procedures related to the revenue cycle to ensure the quality of billing functions and systems to optimize reimbursement and cash flow.

Minimum Qualifications:

- High school diploma/ GED

- Two years' experience with healthcare claims.

Preferred Education and Experience:

+ Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration or related field preferred

+ Two years experience with healthcare claims

+ Strong personal computer literacy required including working knowledge of relevant software packages such as Microsoft Excel and Word. Familiarity and experience with practice management and patient accounting systems such as eClinicalworks preferred

+ Ability to work with large amounts of data, including checks for integrity, summation, and effective communication with internal and external constituents

+ Organized and effective at dealing with many activities simultaneously; strong planning and organizing skills required.

+ Self-starter with the ability to work independently

+ Demonstrates the highest degree of accuracy and readability for all work and team projects

+ Uses protects, and discloses patients' protected health information ( PHI )only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act ( HIPAA ) standards.
