Position Overview:We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and organized individual to join My Psychiatrist, the fastest growing outpatient behavioral health group in Florida. The Patient Accounts Specialist is responsible for managing patient billing and accounts within the Revenue Cycle Management Department. This role requires a meticulous and efficient individual who can effectively communicate with patients, insurance companies, and clinic staff to ensure accurate and timely billing and collections.

Essential Duties and Requirements:

1. Billing and Coding:o Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims and patient statements.o Ensure proper coding for behavioral health services in accordance with current codingguidelines (ICD-10, CPT).o Verify insurance coverage and benefits for patients.2. Patient Account Management:o Maintain and manage patient accounts, ensuring all information is accurate and up-to-date.o Process payments, post charges, and reconcile accounts.o Follow up on unpaid claims, denials, and discrepancies.3. Customer Service:o Serve as the primary point of contact for patients regarding billing inquiries and accountstatus.o Provide excellent customer service, addressing patient concerns and questions promptlyand professionally.o Assist patients with payment plans and financial assistance options as needed.4. Collections:o Implement effective collection strategies to reduce outstanding balances.o Contact patients regarding overdue accounts and arrange for payment.o Work with third-party collection agencies when necessary.5. Compliance and Reporting:o Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to billing andcollections.o Prepare and analyze reports on account statuses, collection activities, and financialperformance.o Participate in audits and reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance.6. Collaboration:o Work closely with clinical staff, administrative staff, and insurance companies to resolvebilling issues.o Collaborate with the Revenue Cycle Manager to improve processes and efficiencieswithin the department

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in healthcareadministration, business, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and collections, preferably in a behavioralhealth setting.
  • Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Strong understanding of insurance processes, coding (ICD-10, CPT), and healthcare regulations(HIPAA).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
