Position Patient Care Aide- PATH Location 5T Medical/Surgical/Oncology Full-Time/Part-Time PRN Shift Various Shifts Exempt/Non-Exempt Non-Exempt Description This Patient Care Aide (PCA) is a full-time temporary position (not to exceed 6 months) for a student to participate in the Beaufort Memorial PATH program. Once PATH program is concluded the PCA will transition in to a permanent position such as (but not limited to) to Patient Care Technician (PCT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) etc. within Beaufort Memorial Hospital. The PCA position provides care for both adults and pediatric (neonates, pediatrics and adolescents) patients. The PCA will provide direct patient care in the clinical setting under the direct supervision and delegation of the nurse. Beyond work in the nursing departments this may include work in any entry level pay grade four position including but not limited to patient transport, general labor jobs in food & nutrition such as dishwasher, or EVS/housekeeping, etc..The Patient Care Aide performs assigned tasks in a timely, efficient and safe manner.Position Requirements Education:
  • High School graduate or equivalent preferred, including ability to read, write and comprehend medical terminology.
Experience:
  • Previous experience preferred.
Certifications/Licenses:
  • None required. Training and education provided upon hire.
  • BLS certification required prior to first clinical shift (must be issued by the American Heart Association).
