Job Summary:
The Patient Care Assistant performs a variety of duties to assist patients in meeting their basic needs and activities of daily living. This role works under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), providing general patient care and ensuring a safe and clean environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges
- Communicate any changes in patient status to the RN or LPN
- Collect, report, and document patient data
- Perform all aspects of patient care while prioritizing safety and positive patient outcomes
- Flexibility and organization in a fast-paced environment
- Effectively communicate with the healthcare team
- Transport patients to other departments as needed
- Complete additional tasks as assigned, such as removing saline locks, performing EKGs, and measuring and recording nasogastric drainage
