Job Title: Patient Care Assistant
Location: The Woodlands, TX 77384
Duration: 03+ months
Duties:
- Obtains and documents vital signs (without the use of continuous physiologic monitors) and notifies professional of abnormal findings as evidenced by supervisory observation and review of medical records.
- Obtains and documents physiologic values using continuous physiologic monitors; responds appropriately to alarms and notifies professional of abnormal values as evidenced by supervisory observation and review of medical records.
- Obtains and documents body measurements and intake and output and notifies the RN of abnormal finding as evidenced by supervisory observation and review of medical records.
Skills:
• Knowledge of general office tasks, confidentiality, filing, medical terminology, CPT coding and managed care referral
• Knowledge of nursing care.
• Ability to perform tasks for numerous patients, communicate effectively with the team, utilize monitoring equipment and basic patient care equipment, computer terminal and telecommunications equipment.
• Patient care technician with ability to be working in any of the following areas:
• Emergency Department
• Acute Care Pediatrics
• Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
• Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
• Tasks could include unit secretary in any of the above areas
• Could be floated to the 1-on-1 Patient Sitter role for behavioral and medical safety needs
• BLS required
• CNA or MA preferred
Education:
Required - H.S. Diploma or equivalent
- One of the following is required in addition to the high school diploma or GED:
- Completion of a formal nursing assistant educational program or certification (e.g. Diploma/Course/Certificate/Associates Degree/Etc. completed in a Certified Nurse Assistant, Medical Assistant, or similar clinical education program).
- Currently enrolled in a BSN degree program with one clinical rotation completed at the time of hire.
- One (1) year of direct patient care experience.
