Responsibilities The WFD PCA Trainee will participate in a 4 week (minimum) program to be prepared to provide patient care assistance to a variety of nursing units within USA Health, rather than just one department; receives verbal/written assignments from RN/LPN, assists patients with Activities of Daily Living; reports any changes in patient condition to RN/LPN; maintains clean and neat stocked areas and patient rooms; cleans equipment between each patient use; operates unit equipment as required; runs unit errands as needed; assists with and accompanies patients on admission, discharge, and transfer; answers patient call lights promptly; keeps hallway clear of equipment; distributes water and ice; maintains 24-hour urine collections; performs catheter checks and blood glucose monitoring; runs unit errands as needed; takes and records vital signs and weight; records accurate intake and output (to include NG, chest tube, ostomy bags, foley, etc.); signs/initiats documentation; documents patient turns and repositioning; reports any skin condition to RN; assists with completion of daily flow sheet; responds to overhead pages; participates in orientation of new employees as assigned; adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards; accesses and accurately maintains electronic and paper medical records; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required. PCA trainees in WFD department are expected to: (1 ) Complete 4 week (minimum) training program (2) Train full time (Monday - Friday) during program (3) Master clinical and professional skills training (4) Leave the training prepared to float to various units and/or hospitals within USA Health. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent and completion of any prerequisite assignments to be a part of the program, such as screening assessments or testing.
