Job DescriptionPurpose of Position:Under the general supervision of a Registered Nurse provides treatments and care delivery for patients within the Emergency Department Responsibilities:
- Conducts interview of clients to obtain personal and medical information, and appropriate health history
- Prepare collected specimens for laboratory-testing y performing venipuncture and/or finger stick testing
- Operates electrocardiograph equipment to record electrical wave tracing of the electrical current of the heart muscle and refer to EKG racing to register nurse of Emergency Department provider
- Checks vital signs, weight, and measure patients, performs visions and hearing testing records findings on patient charts
Minimum Qualifications1. High school diploma or its educational equivalent, approved by a State's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization; and2. Successful completion of a NYS Department of Health prescribed training program for Phlebotomy, satisfactory to the Laboratory Director; and3. Completion of a health care setting-based training program in the performance of electrocardiographs and basic life support procedures including certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation.Special Note:In addition to meeting the qualifications above, assignment to a long-term care facility requires a New York State Nurse's Aide Certificate.
