The Patient Care Associate (PCA) will collaborate closely with the Registered Nurse to ensure the highest quality of care for our patients. Responsibilities during your shift will include: collecting vital patient data, assisting with personal care, conducting point of care testing (such as blood glucose), repositioning and mobilizing patients, and supporting all aspects of patient care focused on their smooth discharge and transitions within the acute care environment.

Hourly Rate: $19-$23

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect and document important patient data including vital signs, height and weight, and nutrition intake/output.
  • Communicate any abnormal findings to the RN and care team promptly.
  • Take an active role in care planning and nursing report processes.
  • Respect and promote patient and family involvement in care decisions.
  • Provide essential personal care such as bathing, oral, and skincare.
  • Assist patients with eating, drinking, grooming, dressing, and toileting activities.
  • Implement safe handling practices when assisting with ambulation and mobility.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment for patients.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and standard precautions.
  • Document patient progress towards care goals in records.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/G.E.D. or equivalent - required.
  • Less than 1 year experience in a healthcare setting or completion of a certified nursing assistant course - preferred.
  • Experience as a paramedic or emergency technician - preferred.
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology.
  • Exhibit honesty and punctuality while upholding high ethical standards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members.
Physical Demands:
  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting, carrying, and reaching.
  • Occasional climbing, balancing, pushing, and pulling.
  • Constantly involved in tactile tasks, talking, and hearing.
