Job DescriptionJOB RESPONSIBILITIESUnder the supervision and direction of department head, Physician, Nurse Practitioner, and Nurse, PCA assists and process daily functions duty of the department to provide good medical care to employees.
- Follow strict confidentiality of employee's medical records
- The Patient Care Associate is charged with and responsible for:
- Scheduling employees' appointments, register them and check them in and out into Epic-cadence for each visit
- Prepares patient for examination and assists OHS provider during examination
- Prepares examining room for examination
- Maintains, completes and files employee's charts, appropriate form and documents. (Pulling and filing charts)
- Checks vital signs, weighs, and measures patients, and records findings on patient's chart.
- Update employee's OHS related database into PeopleSoft,
- Obtain blood specimens by performing venipuncture by verifying employee's identity with any two identifiers (Employee's MRN, DOB, last name, first name) and labeling and preparing specimens for laboratory pick-up
- Preparing required forms for Urine Toxicology testing and handling urine/blood specimens with regard to chain of custody process and instructing employees on how to obtain urine drug specimen
- Requesting OHS specimen pick up order into EPIC
- Performs Acuity Vision Testing
- Performs EKG as needed
- Provides practice support if necessary
- Deliver specimens to the laboratory as needed
- Provide Fit test training and fit test to employees
- Additional duties as needed
- All duties to be performed on-premises.
Minimum Qualifications1. High school diploma or its educational equivalent, approved by a State's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization; and 2. Successful completion of a NYS Department of Health prescribed training program for Phlebotomy, satisfactory to the Laboratory Director; and3. Completion of a health care setting-based training program in the performance of electrocardiographs and basic life support procedures including certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation.Special Note:In addition to meeting the qualifications above, assignment to a long-term care facility requires a New York State Nurse's Aide Certificate.
Department PreferencesQUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB:- A four-year High School Diploma or its educational equivalent; and,
