Job Type Part-time Description REPORTS TO: Clinical Nurse Manager CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time Non-Exempt SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary range is dependent on applicable experience and includes a $1.50 per hour shift differential and $1.50 per hour weekend shift differential. ABOUT HUSHABYE NURSERY: Hushabye Nursery is an Arizona nonprofit organization with a mission to embrace substance exposed babies and their families with compassionate, evidence-based care that positively changes the course of their entire lives. The organization was founded by Tara Sundem, a neonatal nurse practitioner who witnessed firsthand the challenges of newborns exposed prenatally to opioids and those families trying to care for them. Hushabye Nursery's innovative model offers a safe and inclusive space where mothers, family members and babies - from conception through childhood - can receive integrative care and therapeutic support that offers each child the best possible life outcomes. Programs will include prenatal and postpartum support groups, inpatient nursery services and outpatient therapies. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Patient Care Associate (PCA) is responsible for aiding the professional staff. Delivers direct care to patients as directed by the RN in charge. Always maintains patient comfort and safety. Follows all departmental policies and procedures as well as safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Adheres to the facility's Core Values and mission with complete regard for the dignity of each person.

  • Provides assistance in activities of daily living and completes necessary tasks to promote patient health, including assisting patients with basic hygiene needs, providing assistance with nutritional intake as needed and maintaining an optimum level of comfort and consolation in accordance with the organization's care model.
  • Collects patient specimens and data, including vital signs, input/output and other delegated measurements in accordance with unit/facility policy and standards of care. Documents objective data and routine aspects of patient care.
  • Recognizes and reports abnormalities and/or changes in the patient's health status and responses to treatment to a licensed professional. Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating to other caregivers the status of patients for which care is provided.
  • Performs procedures and uses equipment as delegated by a licensed professional, consistent with demonstrated competencies and according to state scope of practice.
  • Provides necessary supplies, support and assistance to medical staff and patients for unit specific procedures, under the direct supervision of a licensed professional.
  • Performs receptionist/clerical duties to support overall operating efficiency and effective flow of communication and information throughout the department. Participates in the resolution of customer problems or collects necessary data and follows through to appropriate person for problem resolution.
  • Maintains adequate levels of office, dietary, and medical supplies and completes requisition forms when supplies need to be ordered. Reconciles supply order upon delivery.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
Requirements The successful candidate will demonstrate the following core competencies:
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
  • Requires skills and abilities typically attained with 1 year of medical clerical experience; preferably in a hospital.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills, as well as effective human relations and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy and keyboarding skills is required.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS
  • High school graduate preferred.
  • Current CPR (American Heart Association).
  • Current BLS Certification is required.
  • Current AZ DPS Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card is required.
  • Behavioral Health Technician certification preferred.
  • State Certified Nursing Assistant Certification or Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
