Job Title: Patient Care Associate (PCA) - PsychiatryLocation: NYC, NY 10002 Duration: 2 Months Hours Per Week: 37.50 Schedule: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM, 5 days per week Weekend and Holiday availability requiredJob Summary: As a Patient Care Associate (PCA) in Psychiatry, you will function as a vital member of the multidisciplinary team providing care to patients in an inpatient psychiatry unit. You will assist with the admission process, provide ongoing patient care, and support therapeutic interventions. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Participate in patient admissions and orientation to the inpatient unit.
  • Assist patients with daily needs such as changing, securing valuables, and providing orientation to room and unit.
  • Help prepare and update the Nursing Care Plan and Interdisciplinary Treatment Team plans.
  • Implement therapeutic interventions as per patient care plans.
  • Perform direct care tasks, including therapeutic interventions, vital signs, EKGs, and personal hygiene.
  • Assist with services such as transportation, obtaining clothes, and check cashing.
  • Lead and co-lead patient activity groups (recreational and therapeutic).
  • Assist with discharge planning, including arranging transportation and maintaining contact with family/others.
  • Act as a patient escort both on and off the facility for tests, outings, and other activities.
  • Intervene with physical restraints for violent/aggressive patients and assist with seclusion/restraint care as needed.
  • Initiate CPR and assist the nursing team during Code 77 situations.
  • Maintain infection control practices and provide ongoing counseling to patients and families.
Skills:
  • Experience in law enforcement, Nursing, or Psychiatric/Behavioral Health, or with Mental Health Populations, Counseling, or Group Family Dynamics.
  • Venipuncture and EKG experience required.
Education Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 years of full-time experience in a related field (law enforcement, nursing, or mental health).
  • Associate's degree in mental health or related field preferred.
Certifications & Licensure Required:
  • BLS (American Heart Association).
  • Certificate in Medical Assistant training.
  • CPI or PMCS certification.
  • EKG and Phlebotomy certifications required.
  • SEL/SCR background checks.
Languages: Proficiency in English (Speak, Read, Write). Additional Information:
  • This is a PCA - Psychiatric Crisis Compliance role.
  • Must have all certifications in-hand to be considered.
