To provide more immediate care, we have opened several orthopaedic injury walk-in clinics located throughout Orlando and the surrounding communities.For over 50 years, our team of physicians and support staff have been getting Central Floridians back to work, back to play and back to making a difference in our community.Whether it is supporting the local Arthritis Foundation in their annual walk or providing pre-participation sports physicals to high school students, our team at Orlando Orthopaedic Center is actively making a difference throughout Central Florida.*POSITION: *Patient Care Coordinator Float*JOB SUMMARY: *Responsible for filling in as the Patient Care Coordinator and Patient Care Assistant as needed. When filling in as the Patient Care Coordinator, responsible for overseeing the physician's practice and acting as liaison between physician, patient and supporting staff. Responsible for providing consistent support with regards to subspecialty Medical Clearance, On Hold and Work Comp surgery follow up. Assist with surgery scheduling, checkout and other team tasks as needed.*EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: ** High school diploma required* College degree preferred*QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: ** Five plus years of work experience in a physician practice required* At least five years of work experience in medical office administration or management preferred* Proficient using email and word processing software* Knowledge of practice management and electronic health record software* Ability to perform multiple and diverse tasks simultaneously* Neat, professional appearance* Strong written and verbal communication skills* Ability to handle staff and patient questions, problems, and resolve conflicts* Comfortable performing quantitative and analytical duties* Ability to perform well in stressful situations* Strong customer service skills and positive attitude*Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: **Surgery Scheduling Duties ** Cover Patient Care Coordinator responsibilities. Maintain communication among the Physician,* Patient Care Coordinator, patient and facility at all times* Receive orders from ordering physicians and documents pertinent information* Discuss surgery with surgical candidates, explain the surgery scheduling process and determine potential date of surgery* Ensure operating room time is scheduled, equipment is ordered, physician assistant is booked* (as needed), and all appropriate information is faxed to facility* Create clearance forms as needed and assist in scheduling all appropriate pre-operative tests and blood work* Counsel patient regarding their financial obligation prior to surgery, collect surgical estimates and assist with payment plans as needed* Prepare surgery packet and discuss pre-operative instructions with the patient, as directed by physician* Create pre-operative packet for the physician (ie: Office notes, Medical History, MRI reports, etc.)* Coordinate all business and clinical paperwork prior to surgery, using physician-approved forms and checklists; has paperwork ready for surgeon prior to the day of surgery* Ensure insurance benefits are active and authorization was obtained prior to surgery* Ensure all pre-operative clearances and labs are completed prior to surgery* Follow-up with patient after surgery, document the post-op call in a communication log* Ensure FUDS are entered within three business days* Provide consistent support with regards to subspecialty Medical Clearance, On Hold and Work* Comp surgeries.*General Patient Care ** Assist MA in greeting and escorting the patient from the waiting room to exam room as needed* Review physician schedule at least 48 hours in advance of scheduled appointment to ensure appropriate scheduling* Manage incoming telephone inquiries and written correspondence ensuring action taken is documented appropriately in the patient chart as needed* Check out patient, schedule follow-up appointment and any ancillary appointments as needed* Maintain patient confidentiality; comply with HIPAA and compliance guidelines established by the practice* Responsible for all incoming inquiries, both written and verbal, from patients, health insurance carriers, work comp carriers, etc.* Maintain communication among the physician, Patient Care Team and patient at all times* Process correspondence related to the physician's practice (ie: disability forms, FLMA forms, major contributing cause letters, etc.)* Assist with Patient Care Assistant duties as needed. (ie: subspecialty phone queue, follow up calls to patients, appointments, emails, forms, etc.)* Assist with patient complaints and reputation management concerns as needed*General Administration ** Adhere to the Physician Team and Clinical Uniform Policies* Maintain detailed knowledge of practice management, electronic health record and other computer software as it relates to job functions* Maintain knowledge of practice protocols related to the Patient Care Teams* Attend all regular staff meetings* Complete all other duties as assigned by the corresponding supervisor or Physician Team* Manager* Perform all other tasks requested by the physician* Manage work load in an effort to minimize overtime hours* Travel to any one of the company's office locations during the course of the work day. Employee must adhere to the requirements outlined in the Vehicle Use and Mileage Reimbursement policies.*Supervisory Responsibilities *This job has no supervisory responsibilities.*Typical Physical Demands *Position requires extended sitting, some standing, bending, stooping, and stretching. Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment is also required. Employee must have normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports.*Typical Working Conditions *Normal office environment.
