Family Medical Group, NE, part of Optum, has an immediate opening for a friendly, patient focused and detailed oriented Patient Care Coordinator to join our team. The Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for the completion of set processes and protocols. Works cooperatively with all members of the care team to support the vision and mission of the organization, deliver excellent customer service and adhere to Lean processes. Supports the teams in meeting financial, clinical and service goals.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm PST, Rotating Saturdays (about every 6 weeks), 9am-1pm PST

Location: 2647 NE 33rd Ave, Portland, OR 97212

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Applies knowledge/skills to activities that often vary from day to day
  • Checks patients in and out for scheduled appointments
  • Collects and processes patient payments
  • Collects and processes in-coming and outgoing mail
  • Prepares patient documents, labels, and packets for clinic operations
  • Schedules, cancels and changes appointments within the scheduling module of the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Collects insurance cards and photo identification for all patients, scans and uploads them to the EMR
  • Registers new and returning patients, collecting and verifying all demographic information and completing accurate and detailed data entry into the EMR
  • Verifies insurance eligibility using the EMR or insurance portal electronic verification system
  • Acts as a resource person to patients and staff regarding clinic and front office operations
  • Takes incoming calls for scheduling and other inquiries, documenting each call within the EMR and dispositioning the call appropriately
  • Makes outgoing calls for scheduling, re-scheduling or returning patient calls or as directed
  • Documents within the EMR using grammatically correct written English language
  • Maintains/ Orders office supplies as needed
  • Attends and participates in monthly staff meetings
  • Participates in monthly assignment rotations and assigned support tasks
  • Works rotating Saturday shifts as assigned. 9AM-1Pm
  • Any other tasks as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 1+ years of Microsoft Office experience
  • 1+ years of customer service experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Medical Office experience
  • 1+ years of electronic medical record experience
  • 1+ years of health plan insurance knowledge
  • Bilingual (English / Spanish)
