Location New York, New York Shift: Day (United States of America) Description: Leadership That Inspires Excellence at the Only Infant Cardiac ICU in the Nation Patient Care Director - RN - Infant Cardiac ICU Advance your career as a Patient Care Director within the Infant Cardiac ICU at New York-Presbyterian/Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital. The first-of-its-kind facility for babies with congenital heart disease. We're the only ones in the nation to have a unit that's dedicated to such complex infant cardiac care. The hospital performs up to 750 pediatric and congenital heart defect surgeries, including 130 neonatal cardiac surgeries, each year. This 17-bed Vivian and Seymour Milstein Family Infant Cardiac Unit will build on that by providing advanced cardiac care for infants up to 3 months old. The Patient Care Director assumes front line responsibility and accountability for managing the delivery of patient care. Responsible for the total management of a designated unit, which includes setting goals and objectives in accordance with the NYPH strategic initiatives, and for planning, organizing, directing, and monitoring unit activities on a twenty-four (24) hour basis. Fiscally responsible for the unit, facilitating efficient and cost-effective daily operations. Coordinates and evaluates the effectiveness of staff, unit performance, and system operations. Implements unit's strategic plan relevant to NYPH initiatives, while continuing to develop professional and support staff in establishing an environment where staff and patients are able to reach their full potential. Preferred Criteria
  • Five years of leadership experience in a Pediatric ICU within a large academic medical center
  • Demonstrated leadership in leading unit development
  • Experience with union environments
  • Certification in Specialty area
Required Criteria
  • Minimum of three years of Pediatric ICU or Neonatal ICU nursing experience
  • Demonstrated leadership competencies
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Master's degree in nursing (MSN)
  • Current NYS RN licensure (or willingness to obtain within 3 months)
  • BCLS certification
