Summary

Collaborates with all clinical departments using virtual care (a/k/a telehealth) and designated staff at the patient's site for the purpose of facilitating and assisting with telehealth encounters between patients and providers. This position exists to support the treatment of a patient locally and to reduce interfacility transfers by allowing specialists and other providers to virtually care for patients at a distance. Provides direct patient care, including treatments and diagnostic studies as directed by a Registered Nurse. Provides other support services, dictated by patient needs, as a care delivery team member. Utilizes effective and appropriate communication styles. Supports unit and hospital goals and objectives. Job Duties

  • Under the direction of the distant provider, facilitates a clinical exam, including the utilization of any required peripheral devices (e.g., electronic stethoscope), other technology (e.g., video conferencing equipment) and software (e.g., Epic, Vidyo, etc) ensuring a comprehensive virtual care encounter is conducted.
  • Serves as a liaison between unit/practice staff at the patient's location and providers at a distant site to coordinate the timely scheduling of virtual care encounters.
  • Provides care to and related activities for designated patients using a patient/family centered approach and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Employs astute observational skills and properly communicates findings, changes, or problems to the RN.
  • Uses effective and appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication styles with patients, significant others, visitors, staff, and professional colleagues.
  • Functions as a department team member to support unit-based patient experience goals as well as hospital goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrates team building skills by participating in the orientation of new staff, as assigned.
  • Performs validated technical skills based upon clinical specialty and unit practice.
  • Utilizes technology and incorporates technology to optimize alternative modes of care delivery.
  • Completes quality control checks on designated unit equipment, if applicable.
  • Conducts patient rounds as assigned, anticipates patient needs, and answers/responds to patient call light or pages promptly.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • Six months recent experience in direct provision of patient care activities, including treatments and/or diagnostic studies or
  • Successful completion of LVHN's inexperienced technical partner course.
  • Ability to follow direction and provide accurate reports.
  • Attainment and maintenance of unit-specific competencies.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize assignments in the delivery of patient care.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to work with clinical leadership and staff level clinicians across various service lines.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania within 180 Days
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED or
  • Associates/Bachelor's Degree Healthcare related Field
  • CMA - Certified Medical Assistant - AAMA - State of Pennsylvania
  • CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant - State of Pennsylvania
Physical Demands

Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
