Job Description:
- Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.
- Under the daily direction of the Charge Nurse and Administrator, the Patient Care Technician has primary responsibility to assist professional staff in the checking in of patients, stocking of pre and post procedure supplies, updating the clinical logs, and in the preparation, set-up and turnover of cases. Assists professional staff with patient comfort, patient discharge and other direct patient care duties as directed. Assists with cleaning and preparation of scopes for sterilization. Is knowledgeable in the operation of the Steris. Assumes support responsibility for proper storage of equipment and restocking of supplies as required; checks supplies for outdates.

- Essential Responsibilities
- Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
- Demonstrates and maintains aseptic technique according to the policies and procedures of Surgical Services.
- Demonstrates competency and knowledge of the endoscopy environment regarding traffic patterns.
- Assists professional staff in case preparation by reviewing preference cards, and procuring appropriate supplies prior to start of case.
- Prepares instruments for cleaning and resterilizaton per direction of professional staff.
- Safely and accurately operates the Steris, including appropriate documentation per policy.
- Assists with putting away supplies and room turnover, and housekeeping duties between cases and at end of day.
- Contributes to maximum efficiency of the procedure line up in order to adhere to procedure start times.
- Demonstrates cost effectiveness with handling of supplies, i.e., rotating stock to ensure use of items prior to outdate.
- Cross-trains material management to help with inventory control.
- Assists professional staff with patient preps, positioning, and other direct patient care duties as directed.
- Accepts responsibilities only within scope of practice.
