OverviewUnder direct supervision, provides patient care activities and performs related support functions.Posting from October 2, 2024 - October 9, 2024ResponsibilitiesEstablish and maintain positive relationships with patients, visitors, and other employees. Interacts professionally, courteously, and appropriately with patients, visitors, and other employees. Behaves in a manner consistent with maintaining and furthering a positive public perception of BronxCare Health System and its employees.Contributes to and participates in the Performance/Quality Improvement activities of the assigned department, including data collection, analysis, implementation of and compliance with risk management and claims activities, support of and participation in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) teams, and adherence to the specific rules and regulations of the BronxCare Health System.CUSTOMER PATIENT FOCUS: Utilizes the principles of leadership established by the AONE and ANA.Attitude - Presents to patients/customers with appropriate attitude and appearance.Privacy - Respects patient/customer privacy. Maintains a secure and trusting work environment.Phone Etiquette - Follows departmental standards concerning the answering of telephones.Appearance - Maintains an appropriate professional appearance.Work Environment - Maintains working environment in a clean, safe, orderly manner.Customer Acknowledgement - Actively listens to patients/customers. Acts in a courteous, friendly, and helpful manner.Patient/Customer Information - Provides appropriate and timely information to patient/customer. Demonstrates knowledge of HIPAA regulatory and patient confidentiality.Call lights/Client Needs - Identifies and responds to patient/client needs according to hospital standards.Customer Waiting - Provides appropriate and timely information to customers/patients.Clinical Responsibilities:Manages the flow of patients for assigned providers and monitors the progress of the provider.Patient Preparation Procedures:Clean room prior to patient entry.Use two identifiers for patient identification.Instructs patient to change into exam gown when appropriate.Completes all screening tools in the EMR with the patient.Accurately performs and records vital signs including blood pressure.Performs Phlebotomy including finger sticks.Performs vision and hearing testing.Performs blood glucose testing using a glucometer.Instructs patients and obtains specimens (sputum, urine, and stool).Assists patients in the use of assisted devices that include walkers, canes, and crutches.Transports patients, specimens, and materials to and from areas.Prepares and maintains work areas with supplies.Reports changes in patient's conditions to the Registered Nurse.Prepares patient for examination and assists provider during examination.Performs simple unsterile dressings.Obtains and records patients' weight and height accurately.Assists patient in use of incentive spirometer.Accountability / Work Ethic:Demonstrates an understanding of the organization fire/safety plan and emergency preparedness plan.Removes and reports broken or damaged equipment promptly.Checks alarm settings on medical devices and ensures they are audible.Checks code cart/defibrillator based on hospital policy.Participates in fire drills and emergency drills as per hospital policy.Handles and properly disposes of regulated medical waste as per hospital policy.Wears employee ID badge at all times.Complies with organizational procedures regarding absences, lateness, and timeliness of meal breaks.Customer Service:Complies with patient right standards and confidentiality; maintains patients' need for privacy, respect, and dignity.Practices infectious control standards.Assesses physical environment and reports conditions that negatively impact safety.Communicates effectively with patients.Education / Development / Responsibilities:Attends all mandatory educational sessions appropriate to the area/unit.Complies with hospital required competencies including skills and HealthStream modules.Identifies learning needs and seeks opportunities to address.QualificationsTwo to three (2-3) years experience in an acute, chronic, or ambulatory care setting. Completed Patient Care Technician Course.BLS Certification.Certification of PCT (Phlebotomy / EKG) completion.High School diploma or GED.Computer Knowledge.#J-18808-Ljbffr
