Join our team as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) in a dynamic direct patient care role! This position offers cross-training in both the Emergency Department (ED) and the Acute Care Unit (ACU), with opportunities for skill development based on competency validation. We encourage candidates with EMS and CNA experience, as well as nursing students, to apply.Responsibilities:Provide direct patient care, assisting with daily living activities and procedures.Support physical, respiratory, and cardiopulmonary therapies.Perform core nursing assistant tasks: vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, weights, I&O, and specimen collections.Communicate effectively with the healthcare team and report changes in patient status to the RN.Maintain professionalism and establish respectful relationships with patients and colleagues.Document patient care accurately in medical records and adhere to safety policies.Participate in self-review and identify areas for personal and professional growth.Provide patient and family instruction under the RN's guidance, including restraint application and monitoring.Support department initiatives and contribute to quality improvement effortsHigh school diploma or equivalent.One of the following:1 year of general healthcare experience, OR6 months as a UPMC Nursing Assistant/CNA with PCT competency achieved within 120 days of hire, OREnrollment in a PT/OT/PA program or related healthcare training with at least one completed clinical rotation, ORBachelor's degree in a health sciences field.Strong oral and written communication skills.EMT or Paramedic certification or enrollment in an EMT/Paramedic program preferred.UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
