Join our dedicated team as a Patient Care Technician in our Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit, where you'll play a vital role in helping patients through their recovery journey in a safe and supportive environment.Responsibilities:Assist with patient care and provide feedback to the RN, reporting changes in patient status.Maintain effective communication with other departments and contribute to unit activities.Support patient and family education under RN guidance.Adhere to safety policies, hospital protocols, and documentation standards.Foster professional relationships and demonstrate accountability, teamwork, and respect for cultural diversity.Actively participate in self-improvement and seek feedback to enhance skills and performance.Support department initiatives, handle clerical tasks, and suggest improvements for department efficiency.Maintain competency in required tasks and may perform advanced skills based on operational needs.High school diploma or equivalent.One of the following: 1 year of general healthcare experience, enrollment in a healthcare training program with clinical rotation, OR a bachelor's degree in a health sciences field.Completion of UPMC patient care technician class and basic information system training upon hireMicrocomputer experience preferred.Strong oral and written communication skills.EMT/Paramedic certification or enrollment preferred.Limited access to medications, distributing to nurses only.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hireComprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC) within 60 days of hire and annually thereafter.Act 34UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
