Position Summary:
Patient Care Technicians perform clinical tasks under the direction of a Registered Nurse in the Pre-op and PACU areas. Patient Care Technicians will also assist the front office staff with patient registration duties when necessary.
Responsibilities:
Maintain confidentiality of all patient information (HIPAA);
Greet and escort patient to the pre-op area to begin the admission process;
Provide basic care such as, but not limited to, obtain vital signs, document on appropriate electronic platforms and paper forms and notify registered nurses of any abnormal results or patient behaviors and responses;
Assist staff with turnover of patient care area by cleaning and restocking as needed;
Under the supervision of a nurse, turn, position and/or mobilize patients and assist with caring for their needs with a focus on progress towards discharge;
Under the direction of a nurse, assist patients with activities of daily living (ADL) such as assisting with ambulation, helping patient to the restroom, dressing to go home, assisting patient to car;
Participates in the creation and maintenance of clean and safe environment of care, restocks supplies needed in the PACU;
May assist in unpacking, delivery and storage of supply orders under direction of Materials Coordinator;
Front Office tasks include but are not limited to: Greeting and screening patients for admission, assisting with registration process, answering phones and directing calls, building chart pack, scanning, faxing, filing, sorting mail and data entry into electronic medical record software;
Other tasks and responsibilities as needed
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required;
1- 3 years of experience in a medical setting preferred; Pre/Post-Op experience desired;
Ability to squat, bend, twist and lift up to 50 pounds periodically;
Excellent communication and customer service skills;
Basic computer skills, including the use of electronic medical records (EMR)
CPR Preferred
Hours vary as needed between Monday-Friday
