DescriptionJob Summary: The DIALYSIS TECHNICIAN assists with the deliverance and coordination of hemodialysis therapy, involving preparation of the patient, equipment, and supplies associated with such therapy, as well as all other relevant duties and those assigned by the Clinic Manager. $35,000 45,000 annually plus performance bonuses! Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Preparation of patients and dialysis equipment for the performance of hemodialysis
- Monitors and records machine parameters and patient response during treatment
- Preparation of bicarbonate for treatment
- Empties trash, contaminated needle boxes and laundry
- Responds to patient needs: emergency situations, bedpans, and transportation
- Assists in CQI data collection and coordination where applicable
- Maintains the confidentiality of all Practice information regarding patients, coworkers and physicians
- Performs all other relevant duties which may be helpful to the patient's social/mental well being and those assigned by the Clinic Manager.
Position RequirementsRequired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must possess ability to communicate effectively and express ideas clearly and concisely as this position requires frequent contact with patients, physicians, and nursing staff
- Must possess ability to meet physical demands of the position. These include, but are not limited to, constant sitting, standing, bending, lifting and moving. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
- Ability to excel in stressful, fast-paced work environment subject to frequent interruptions and hostile and emotionally upset patients, family members, staff, etc. Continuously serves as a mediator between patients, family members and Practice staff
Education, Certification and Experience Required:
- Minimum of high school diploma; additional vocational training or college courses preferred
- Previous medical experience; training will occur on the job; strong communications skills required
Physical and Environmental Conditions:
- The DIALYSIS TECHNICIAN must expect to be exposed to the possibility of injury when using or lifting equipment and supplies, infection from undiagnosed contagious patients, disagreeable odors, and exposure to blood borne pathogens. The Hemodialysis Technician is expected to exercise universal precautions in the performance of all duties as this position may be subject to exposure to AIDS and Hepatitis B and C viruses.
