Job Summary
This position provides direct and indirect patient care under the direction of a registered nurse. Provides for personal care, comfort and assists with safe, clean environment, maintains equipment and supplies.
Minimum Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of related healthcare experience.

- Knowledge and proficiency of hospital information technology applications.
Essential Functions
- Provides general nursing care, such as positioning patients, lifting and turning patients, transferring patients and assisting patients with ambulation.
- Prepares patient bays, including stocking nurse server and room with anticipated patient care items.
- Answers patient call lights, making rounds to assigned patients.
- Assists with simple dressing changes, using Universal Precautions
- Notifies appropriate licensed personnel when patient needs assistance.
- Reports and when appropriate, records any changes observed in the condition or behavior of the patient.
- Takes and records temperature, pulse, respiration, blood-pressure, weight and intake-output.
- Understands specialty equipment, keeps knowledge up-to-date, is a technical resource for others, follows technology practices and standards.
- Demonstrates the ability to write clear, concise notes, simple charting that reflects patient care given.
- Performs patients surgical preps as directed by RN.
- Other duties as assigned.
