The Pediatric Unit in the MD Anderson Children's Cancer Hospital is looking for experienced Patient Care Techs (CNA) who are flexible, enthusiastic about family and patient-centered care, and passionate about pediatrics care. Our 35-bed unit will allow you to care for all pediatrics patients in the following services lines: Pedi oncology, pediatrics surgical, pediatrics stem cell transplant and cellular therapy and young adult stem cell transplant and cellular therapy The primary purpose of the Patient Care Technician (PCT) position is to provide patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse. The ideal candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent and preferably at least one year of recent experience working in direct patient care. Candidate can choice between a 36 hour work week 7p - 7a. Or a 40 hour work week (7p-7pa, 3pm - 11p and 11p-7a) including rotating weekends and holidays. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Responsibilities include completion of routine or advanced patient care assignments as delegated. Understands critical changes to patient status and reports concerns to appropriate nursing staff. Works with multidisciplinary team members to identify and address patient care needs. Effectively and professionally resolves conflict with team members, provides and receives timely feedback to ensure collaboration and positively impact patient care and patient satisfaction scores. Participates in team and peer evaluations. Demonstrates superior customer service in all interactions with patients, families, visitors, and colleagues. Aids in completion of activities of daily living, mobilization, admit/discharge, and vital signs in a diverse patient setting. Utilizes validated advanced skills to support multidisciplinary goals aimed at assisting patients in reaching maximum functionality. Encourages patients in progression of wellness and promotes independence. Maintains environment in a clean, safe, and orderly manner. Maintains unit and institutional competencies and adheres to legal and regulatory requirements. Participates in unit projects focused on improving patient outcomes. Demonstrates knowledge and utilization of computers, equipment, and software programs to enter patient data, access information, and communicate with the multidisciplinary team. Successfully complete required on-line training. Demonstrate accountability by reviewing electronic/written communication. REQUIREMENTS Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience Required: None. Preferred: One year Experience in an acute care setting as a Nursing Assistant. Licensure/Certification Required: None. Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Other Required: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
