Patient Care Tech - Powell Chemical Dependency Center- Lutheran

Part-time; Saturday and Sunday 6am-2pm
The PCT is responsible for providing medical and counseling support to Powell CDC patients. The PCT also assists in the provision of patient monitoring, orientation, patient recovery and recreational support. Consistently utilizes a holistic approach (considering physical, psych/social, spiritual, education, safety, and related criteria) appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned service area.

Responsibilities
Clinical Excellence/Patient Care
* Takes and records vital signs, withdrawal symptoms and mental health symptoms.
* Performs and documents direct care given to patients in conformance with treatment plan.
* Notify RN or medical staff of significant patient medical or behavioral health concerns.
* Coordinates and reports urine drug monitoring procedures, result reports, color assignments and reports these to clinical team daily.
* Completes new patient orientation and recreation activities with patients and documents in the EHR.
* Monitor patients via regular rounding for participation and attendance in groups and report concerns to RN, clinical team and supervisor.
* Attend daily staffing to record and report level of care changes, admissions, discharges, UA results and all clinically significant patient care concerns
* Assists in maintaining a safe, clean, and therapeutic milieu
* Performs procedures specific to the assigned area including UA collections as needed.
* Utilizes a holistic approach (considering physical, psych/social, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria) appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned service area.
* Demonstrates ability to consistently meet the department work schedule.
* Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service.

Basic UPH Performance Criteria

* Completes all annual education and competency requirements within designated time frame.
* Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g., Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste, and abuse.Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff.Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.
* This position may be assigned a specific mission to address in an emergency to assist in disaster response and recovery as part of the UPHDM Hospital Emergency Incident Command System. Situations of a critical nature may require an individual to perform multiple tasks until additional support can be obtained.
* Demonstrates knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements

Education:
Eighteen (18) years old
High School graduate or GED equivalent
75 Hour Basic CNA Course or CMA.
Experience:
Previous healthcare experience, or experience in behavioral health/substance use disorder services
License(s)/Certification(s):
Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain certification within three (3) months from date of hire.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Must be able to move quickly and frequently from 1st floor Residential unit to 4th floor outpatient services area or 3rd Floor Detox Unit.Light lifting may be involved.Writes, reads, comprehends, and speaks fluent English.
