Job Summary

Responsible for the processing of all Health Services medical claims with accuracy and in a time efficient manner. Responsible for processing and posting of all insurance payments and adjustments. Respond to inquiries to answer questions and resolve issues for the patients, providers and insurance companies.

This position has been identified by Federal Law (Jeanne Clery Act) as a Campus Security Authority (CSA), with significant student and campus responsibilities. CSA 's are obligated to report crimes reported to them which occurred on campus, in public areas bordering campus and in certain non-campus buildings owned or controlled (leased) by the University.

Responsibilities

* Download/import files (Waystar/Medicat), process zero-dollar batches, and handle rejected claims in Waystar (Clearinghouse)

* Assist the Billing Manager and Director with tasks as needed

* Maintain confidentiality of all patient records

* Prepare Daily Deposit Sheet, post electronic/paper payments, and adjustments

* Prepare and transmit medical claims to insurance companies

* Process charges to be transferred to student accounts and the Athletic Department

* Assist students and parents with questions or concerns about services provided by Health Services

* Correct and resubmit rejected claims

* Generate weekly/monthly receivable reports to follow up on outstanding claim balances

* Keep abreast of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding changes and updates

* Keep the Billing Manager informed

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

* High School Diploma or equivalent

Required Experience

* Three (3) or more years of experience in a medical office setting

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications

* Working knowledge of medical practice management information system and Banner/RMS computer application

Preferred Experience

* University/College student health practice and office/medical records experience

Proposed Salary

$18.12 - $22.21 per hour

This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.

* Knowledge of office management practices and procedures

* Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills
