Job Description:
Christie Clinic's department of Business Services is seeking a full-time Patient Financial Care Representative at The Leadership Center in Champaign from Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.This position is responsible for providing patients of Christie Clinic with outstanding customer service by answering questions, resolving account balances, and educating patient on policies and procedures surrounding patient balance recovery.Requirements include the ability to operate a 10 key calculator.JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
  • Speak with patients to answer questions, obtain insurance information, request payment to resolve delinquent accounts, or establish payment arrangements.
  • Verify insurance eligibility for patients by accessing online information available through various carriers.
  • Process charge reviews to appropriate resources to verify information such as CPT and diagnosis codes, and dates and levels of service.
  • Send letters to patients and insurance carriers to advise of changes in coding, and process adjustments as authorized by appropriate resources.
  • Respond to correspondence received from patients either by telephone or in writing.
  • Research return mail received on accounts by contacting patients and checking various online resources such as Medi.
  • Process accounts appearing in the collection management system daily by contacting the guarantor of each account, either by phone or by letter, in which in payment in full or monthly personal payments are being received.
  • Terminate payment plans on accounts that have been paid in full or accounts in which new payment plans must be established due to an increasing account balance.
  • Accept calls from outbound calling campaigns and letter distributions.
  • Education patients on all payment options available to optimize patient balance recovery.
  • Participate in daily and weekly huddles as well as be actively involved in idea generation and problem solving.
  • Complete special projects or other duties as assigned.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stretching. Requirements also include operating a 10 key calculator at 6000 strokes per hour. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:Work is performed in an office environment, involves frequent contact with staff and may involve working irregular hours.PAY AND BENEFITS:The estimated pay range for this position is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses.
