Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director of Surgical Services and the Director of Quality the Patient Navigator shall ensure patients find Joint Replacement surgery understandable (by providing education to improve knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding their course of care), available (by knowing about services and linking clients to them), accessible (by removing structural and cultural barriers to services), affordable (by assisting clients to resources and programs for which they are eligible), appropriate (by offering culturally competent services and educating mainstream providers about the needs and cultures of their clients), and accountable (by participating in efforts to improve and expand services). Coordinates all aspects of the employee health program for WVMC hospital and clinics. Works collaboratively with all hospital departments, physicians and employees delivering services under the employee health program. Responsible for specific duties related to employee on boarding. Assists and collaborates with infection prevention activities. Implements the immunization program per guidelines and hospital policies and procedures. Facilitates the TB screening program for employees, volunteers and students per guidelines, policies and procedures.

Must possess strong interpersonal skills with a high sensitivity to the needs of others, including the ability to communicate effectively with staff, administrators, patients, families, physicians, volunteers, and other customers.
