Charlotte Hungerford Hospital is a 122-bed, general acute care community hospital located in Torrington, Connecticut, that serves as a regional health care resource for the 100,000 residents of Litchfield County and Northwest Connecticut. Job Summary

To observe and assist with safety-related patient issues. To appropriately intervene, assist, and call for further assistance as needed. All essential functions and interactive skills are under the direction of the registered nurse.

  • Assists with ambulation, transfer and positioning techniques.
  • Performs hand and face washing.
  • Assists with meal and snack set-up.
  • Performs mouth care, including denture cleaning and storage.
  • Displays and upholds CHH core values of dignity, compassion, service excellence, community and integrity. Consistently demonstrates caring for patients, for one another, and for the organization they are part of, and contributes to building trust, pride and camaraderie.
  • Performs various patient care duties as delegated by the registered nurse and documents accordingly.

Qualifications

  • CPR Certification required
  • Strong communications skills.
  • Awareness of patient comfort needs.
  • Interactive/diversional activities training.
  • Standard and safety precautions and patient rights knowledge
  • Displays CHH core values of dignity, compassion, service excellence, community and integrity.
  • Experience as a CNA or home care companion preferred.
  • CNA Certification preferred.
