ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS:

A rotating 40 hour work week, beginning at 11:00 pm - 7:00 am, Monday - Sunday, and including special events. Must be available to work weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

Marina Specialist I, is responsible for providing security patrols of all marina facilities and grounds maintaining vigilance for fire, vandalism and theft.

* Perform regular and routine security patrols of all marina land area; People Street T-head, Lawrence Street T-head, Coopers Alley L-head; noting and correcting unsafe or insecure conditions, and takes further and immediate action to correct conditions as needed.

* Conducts safety inspection of all piers and marina facilities, insures all vessels are moored properly in their assigned mooring, and insures facilities and gates access is secured.

* Take appropriate action in the event of an emergency, must be able to administer First Aid/CPR to injured victims. Follows established safety procedures.

* Interacts with public and marina customers. Ensures marina regulation. Calls police or fire department in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons.

* Maintain and operate department vehicles in accordance with department policy.

* Complete exact detailed and accurate records of all incidents and actions taken, reports on activity during shift, files written reports on incidents, etc.; maintains daily log of activities.

* Assists Senior Marina Specialists in the event of a recall for search & rescue operations.

* May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

* Requires a High School Diploma or GED with less than one (1) year of related experience.

* Ability to maintain control/secure all marina facilities, perform minor repairs to equipment/facilities strongly preferred.

* Must be able to obtain First Aid and CPR certification within six (6) months from date of hire.

* A valid driver's license is required.

* Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire.

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
