Description:Established in 1970, Orthopedic Associates of Hartford, P.C. is one of the area's largest and most respected orthopedic specialty groups, with locations throughout greater Hartford. In support of high quality patient care, we are currently seeking an experienced Patient Registrar to join our team.

This full-time position will rotate between our offices located in Hartford, South Windsor, Plainville, Farmington, Rocky Hill, Glastonbury and Enfield. Morning start times may be as early as 6:30 a.m. - flexibility is a must!

Our highly visible Patient Registrars are responsible for greeting and checking in patients, collecting co-pays and patient balances, obtaining insurance information and referrals, and updating patient demographics. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma plus a minimum of two years' experience in a medical office with a background in patient registration and an understanding of different insurance carriers and plans. Your attentiveness to detail, excellent customer service skills, and ability to multi-task and be flexible in a changing environment will contribute to your success in this position.

Responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to:

  • Registering patients, including gathering and updating demographic and insurance information
  • Collecting co-pays and patient account balances
  • Rooming patients
  • Obtaining referrals
  • Assisting patients with health histories
  • Assisting Medical Secretaries with phones, patient sessions, and other functions in support of patient care

Requirements:
  • High School diploma plus a minimum of two years' experience in a medical office with registration background
  • Knowledge of medical insurances
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent computer skills, including Epic EMR software, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Must have a current driver's license and auto insurance, as well as reliable transportation for travel to our various offices.
