Interviews incoming patients; enters patient information; may prepare identification bracelets for patients; explains hospital regulations; and assigns patients to rooms based on the nature of the illness and the type of accommodations available. May assist in insurance matters
- Responsible for admitting patients whose admittance has been ordered by a physician who is an active member of the medical staff and has admitting privileges.
- Will register any patient being seen in the Emergency Room or other outpatient areas
- Responsible for obtaining and entering into the computer information form the patient or the patient representative necessary for the preparation of financial and medical records.
- Will obtain insurance card copies, signatures for treatment authorization, insurance assignments and payment guarantee
- Responsible for directing or taking the patient and forms to the proper floors or departments
- Will perform duties in the Business Office; answering the switchboard, accepting cash payments after cashier closes and on weekends, balancing cash collected with receipts, verifying insurance on all inpatient accounts, notifying insurance companies on all inpatients that require pre-certification.
- Will perform other duties requested by the Admission Supervisor and the Business Office Director
Education:
High school education or GED required with emphasis in business and office occupations
Experience:
Previous clerical / office skills, accurate typing skills and computer knowledge
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
