OverviewM Health Fairview has an immediate opening for a Patient Registration Specialist to join our team at the M Health Fairview Cottage Grove Clinic! Join MHealth Fairview, the largest healthcare system in the state! The MHealth Fairview Cottage Grove Clinic is a growing and collaborative clinic. Our clinic hours are 7AM to 6PM Monday - Thursday and 7AM - 5PM on Fridays, so no evenings, weekends, or holidays! For details, please visit our benefits page by clicking here! Responsibilities Job DescriptionGreets and welcomes patients into the clinic. Verifies, registers and schedules patients with accuracy and efficiency. Verifies's insurance and demographic information. Reviews and maintains patient accounts, secures financial arrangements on self-pay balances prior to and during patient appointments.
  • Registers and verifies insurance and demographic information with the patient according to established guidelines.
  • Verifies patient insurance coverage, eligibility, contract group number, effective dates and coverage, correct insurance, and billing address.
  • Informs patients of insurance coverage co pays or self-pay policy and documents in patient account for front desk staff.
  • Monitors patient balances on patient accounts and informs patients of outstanding balances to ensure appropriate financial arrangements.
  • Researches and facilitates patients questions and concerns according to established guidelines and procedures.
  • Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements.
  • May occasionally answer in-coming calls from patients or internal team members to assist in patient care.
  • Schedules appointments for patients with specified clinician according to scheduling guidelines, patient's needs, and availability of clinician.
QualificationsRequiredHigh school graduate or equivalentPreferredCompletion of medical terminology course or equivalent experience and education preferred.Excellent customer service skills and prior clinical experience is preferred.Other Skills We Desire:

  • Ability to prioritize and work with a fluctuation in workload while working independently
  • Ability to adapt to change and engage in ongoing process improvement
  • Flexibility to work at other sites is encouraged
