Job Description:
Pay Range: $21.46 - $34.34 The base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. Shift differentials have been included in the range. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity and contracts. The Patient Advocate serves as a liaison between all customers (internal and external) of Samaritan Health System (SHS) and the organization. Provides a specific channel through which customers can seek solutions to problems, concerns, etc. Functions as patient advocate, ensuring that SHS staff addresses the customer's needs. Act on patients' behalf to administration or any department or service, coordinating among departments as necessary. As the institution's direct representative, interprets philosophy, policies, procedures, and services to patients and all other customers. Always maintains composure when speaking with upset, agitated or confrontational customers. Develops, implements and monitors performance improvement processes and data compilation is an effort to identify trends and issues to the SHS Administrative team. Maintains comprehensive database of issues and develops quarterly reporting mechanisms.
  • Associate's degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Skilled in customer service, conflict resolution and diplomatic interventions.
  • Strong written skills to prepare professional level correspondence. Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Meditech.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, basic understanding of healthcare, medical terminology and strong organization skills. Ability to relate tactfully, diplomatically and objectively with a wide range of people and personalities.
  • Highly motivated with the capacity to anticipate and identify problems, issues and trends and recommend proactive solutions.
