Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Patient Safety Attendant (PSA), you will participate in high-quality, patient-centered care by providing continuous observation and monitoring for high-risk patients. You will collaborate with the patient care team and ensure the patient environment is free of obstacles and minimizes the risk of falls and accidental or intentional self-harm. You may also assist with basic activities of daily living.

Here is some of what you can expect from being a PSA with us:

  • You will always maintain a direct line of sight with patient, including while family and/or visitors are in the room.
  • You will accompany the patient and ensure patient safety during transportation, testing, and procedures occurring away from the patients normal environment.
  • You will establish a safe, risk-free patient environment by utilizing knowledge of fall prevention protocols, infection control measures, and self-harm prevention.
  • You will monitor and report the patient's physical and emotional condition.
  • You will intervene as needed to prevent the patient from harming themselves or others and seek immediate assistance for escalating incidents.
  • You will create clear, accurate documentation on patient status and activity during the shift.
  • You will demonstrate caring and empathy in all interactions and advocates for patient- and family-centered approach in all decisions and actions.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • De-escalation training is required within 90 days of the hire date.
  • One or more years of experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
