Summary
Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the Patient Safety Attendant is responsible for providing 1:1 monitoring with continuous visual observation (either in-person or on a video monitor) for adult or pediatric behavioral health patients or patients at risk for suicide.
The role will focus on observing for changes in the patient's condition and notifying nursing staff when necessary.
The Patient Safety Attendant 1 will be able to demonstrate:

* Calm, confident manner.
* Available to work shifts including day, nights, weekends and holidays
* Minimum of 4 hours per week required.
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
Certification, Registration & Licensure
None
Experience
Demonstrates ability to perform as a team member and effective communicator.
Must be 18 Years of age or older
Responsibilities
* Communicates with patients and significant others in a respectful manner.
* Orients patient and/or significant other(s) to situation and surroundings.
* Documents care provided and reports to the RN observations of patient's physical, social and mental status.
* Maintains appropriate boundaries with patients.
* Ensures continuous supervision of patients at all times. The usage of cell phones, laptops, books, etc. is strictly prohibited.
* Alerts nursing staff when patients need help with activities of daily living.
* Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
* Adheres to relevant policies, procedures and standards.
* Performs job specific requirements and other duties as assigned.
