Under direct supervision of a registered nurse, the Patient Safety Companion (PSC) is responsible for providing in-person and alert observation and monitoring of patients demonstrating behaviors that pose a threat to self or others. In collaboration with the patient care team, the PSC ensures the patient environment is free of obstacles, hazards, contraband and minimizes the risk of falls and accidental or intentional self-harm. The PSC may also assist with basic activities of daily living.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school graduate or G.E.D. with general knowledge of the hospital setting.
Experience: N/A
Licensure/Certification/Registration: BLS Certification with a designation of either BLS Provider or Healthcare Provider from either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or Military Training Network. Certification in MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior) training within six (6) months of hire into position.

REASONING ABILITY - Intermediate Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
