Job DetailsJob LocationMental Health Center - Louisa Co. - Wapello, IAPosition TypeFull-TimeEducation LevelHigh school diploma or GEDTravel PercentageUp to 10%Job ShiftFirst ShiftJob CategoryAdmin - ClericalDescriptionYour ResponsibilitiesAs aPatient Scheduler, your primary responsibilities include efficient, expedient, and accurate procedure scheduling as well as effectively communicating with clients, families, healthcare team members and providers both in person and via telephone. You are responsible for scheduling patient appointments for assigned services to the appropriate location with appropriate providers. Additional duties and responsibilities include:
  • Pre-authorize insurance for all patients in area assigned
  • Responsible for scheduling new and existing outpatient clients in accordance with scheduling guidelines
  • Receives referrals via fax, phone, mail, email or our referral software platform and contacts clients to schedule intake appointment
  • Assists with Pre-Registration process by entering new clients into the EHR, obtaining Demographic information and insurance information over the phone for verification of benefits prior to clients scheduled service
  • Responsible for knowing what provider can see what insurance(s) and their specialty area, if applicable
  • Directs calls to appropriate department for services not provided in Centralized Scheduling
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality and professionalism concerning clients' rights
  • Performs all other job-related duties as assigned or requested by the Manager or Director
What You Need
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Excellent phone etiquette skills
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Handle fast-paced environment in a confident, professional matter
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Complete mandatory Reporter for Child/Dependent Adult Abuse training within 4 months of hire date

  • 1 year office experience
  • 2-3 years customer service experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology
  • Preferred knowledge of computer software/systems included but not limited to:
    • Cerner
    • Microsoft Office Professional Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
