Join us!HealthFirst Family Care Center, a Certified Great Place to Work and wonderful place to make a difference, is seeking a Patient Service Representative to join our team of mission-minded healthcare professionals.The position provides assistance for new and existing patients and ensures they are directed to the correct department that can assist with their needs.DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:Welcomes and greets all patients and visitors, in person or over the phone.Answers the phone while maintaining a polite, consistent phone manner using proper telephone etiquette and within 3 rings.Responsible for keeping the reception, waiting area and work area are clean and organized.Registers new patients and updates existing patient demographics by collecting detailed patient information including personal and financial information. Scanning of insurance cards and conducting eligibility with changes or annually.Verifies address, phone number and insurance information at each check-in.Verifies patient consents are up to date and have patient complete new forms on an annual basis.Facilitates patient flow by notifying the provider of patients' arrival, being aware of delays, and communicating with patients and clinical staff.Maintains utilization of provider's schedules, by scheduling appointments, managing a cancellation list and addressing no shows. Rescheduling appointments when necessary due to vacations/meeting schedules.Responds to inquiries by patients, prospective patients, and visitors in a courteous manner, such as with prescription pick-ups.Collects patient co-payment and discount program fees. Daily balancing of cash box and reconciliation forms.Daily processing of information from the interoffice delivery and fax machine.Assists the patient or customer with pick up of prescriptions or other requests (ie. Medical records, paperwork, etc.)Daily confirmation calls for Nurse Schedule and any other staff as needed.Check Engage (our online confirmation call system) for confirmation responses.Protects patient confidentiality, making sure protected health information is secured by not leaving PHI in plain sight and logging off the computer before leaving it unattended.Cross-train in a minimum of 1 other job function or position within HealthFirst.Maintain personal desktopCall and log on the spreadsheet, all no show appointmentsCheck patients in and out of appointment.Monitor and check voicemails continuously throughout the day and return all calls in the same day.Verify insurance information and eligibility.Process and maintain medical record requests for new patients and make sure they have an appointment scheduled for 30-45 days out from initial set up of patient chart.Maintain patient appointment wait lists for all providers.Check appointments email daily for any new patient packets/requests.Scan in HIPAA documents into the correct patients chart.Other duties as assigned.ORGANIZATIONAL EXPECTATIONS:Support the Mission of HealthFirstInteract with persons of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds in a respectful and dignified mannerEstablish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers and the publicPromote a positive work environmentPerform job duties and responsibilities in a manner that reflects the highest ethical and professional standards of conduct and performancePresent a professional, businesslike image to patients, visitors, and the publicTreat confidential information (including Protected Health Information) with respect and care, whether oral, written, or electronic in a manner that ensures its confidentialityWork in a safe and responsible mannerRequirements:EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma required.
