Job Description:
The Patient Service Specialist is responsible for providing an exceptional patient experience. They are essential in monitoring numerous back office processes, including Referral management and registration, inbound and outbound faxing, and authorization tracking. The person collaborates with Manager and Bartram Crossing Administrator, Facility Support Services, including Admissions; Nursing; Maintenance; Social Services; Kitchen and Dining and Environmental Services and health information medical records , Regional Directors and other support departments as needed to ensure patient access to our care is efficient and best in class.Responsibilities:* Maintains confidentiality of patient information.* Adheres to policies and procedures specific to patient rights.* Meets all requirements for mandatory in-services.* Proficient in basic computer operations and all office automation equipment (telephones, voice-mail, desktop computing, electronic mail, facsimile procedures,* Knowledge of Microsoft Office software products, especially Word and Excel.* Exhibit professional demeanor and communication skills.* Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance and authorization* Exhibit the ability to communicate with a wide variety of individuals (patients, families, physicians, attorneys, external funding agencies, allied health workers, and co workers)* Obtains or gives accurate information; explains policies and procedures to inform customers of correct processes; transfers calls and takes messages; and assists customers in completing forms and documents.* Exhibits excellent customer service.* Care Plan Management* Reviewing MD referrals and all insurance requirements for Authorization needs* Contacting patients and documenting results of contact in effort to schedule new patient care plan meetings.* Registering patients with demographics and insurance information* Registering patients to the patient portal* Creates new medical record projects in the Image Now system upon registration by obtaining and scanning all necessary admission forms, insurance information and orders.* Reviews and completes all Tasks as required in INOW for authorizations, verification or insurance needs* Reviews and completes any and all worklists for patient accounts for compliance.* Generates required daily, weekly and monthly reports as indicated by management.* Serves as the clinic liaison with the Business Office regarding billing issues with active accounts.(delete)* Checks and responds to work related voicemail and email timely.* Promotes a positive image of the Brooks Rehabilitation to outside agencies and the public.* Provides daily checks of patient's rooms to assure that all necessary furniture and room items are available to greet the patient.* Meet and greet patients and their families at the time of admission and welcome them to Bartram Crossing and answer questions and review daily routine and dining options.* Takes photos of patient at the time of registration.* Other duties as assigned by Manager/Administrator.Qualifications:* High School degree required.* A minimum of one (1) years of experience in medical office/ healthcare operations and be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of medical office/ healthcare processes related to patient intake, insurance, scheduling, and customer service.* Demonstrates customer service orientation.* Excellent written and verbal communication necessary.* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, basic computer operations, and all office automation equipment.Location: 3901 Univeristy Blvd S, Jacksonville, FL 32216Schedule: Hybrid; 40 hours/weekCompensation: Experience, education and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.Thriving in a culture that you can be proud of, you will also receive many employee benefits such as the following:* Competitive Pay* Comprehensive Benefits package* Vacation/Paid Time Off* Retirement Plan* Employee Discounts* Clinical Education and Professional Development Programs
