Summary of Job Duties:
The Patient Services Associate (PSA) is a specifically trained member of the unit-based care team who provides both clerical and patient care support to the Patient Management Team. The Patient Services Associate works under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse or other licensed/certified health care disciplines on the unit and performs tasks and duties for which they possess the competency that do not require a licensed practitioner, professional judgment or intervention.

* High school diploma/GED Plus 1 year Patient Care in a health care setting.
Additional Information:
Employees in this role must be fitted for, capable of donning and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment to include N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR).
Responsibilities:
* Provides direct patient care by acquiring medical history, vital signs, and lab samples.
* Communicates with nursing staff regarding changes in patient's condition and maintains adequate level of supplies required for patient care.
* Greets patients upon arrival to clinic.
* Schedules, registers, and checks out patients.
* Collects payments, issues receipts, and verifies insurance coverage.
* Transports patients to other areas of the hospital, as needed.
* Adheres to UAMS safety plan.
* Complies with safety instructions and observes safe work practices.
* Provides input on safety issues .
* Provides appropriate grooming/oral hygiene and comfort measures and assists patients with physical activities.
* Documents all patient care activities.
* Participates in continuing education and professional/ institutional advancement opportunities.
* Serves as resource to support department members in performance of duties. Notifies appropriate staff members of problems requiring prompt intervention.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
