May require access to storage areas where medications are kept and carry out procedures that require the use of non-prescription medications.Accountabilities
- Performs responsibilities accurately, timely, and safely for assigned patients/area.
- Communicates and informs appropriate personnel, patients and family members of pertinent information in a timely manner.
- Maintains accurate paper and electronic documentation.
- Utilizes equipment and supplies safely and appropriately; orders supplies as needed; labels specimens correctly.
- Performs basic nursing care, simple and complex procedures, multiple treatments, waived testing and transports assigned patients.
- Shows proficiency in blood collection and performs tasks in timely and accurate manner.
- Performs EKGs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.Supervisory/Management ResponsibilitiesThis is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.Minimum EducationHigh school diploma, GED or equivalent.Successful completion of tech training course as evidenced by Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) exam or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) course or nursing fundamentals from accredited organization required.Successful completion of an EKG course for portable EKG and successful completion of a phlebotomy course from an accredited organization preferred. Medical Assistant Training acceptable.Minimum Experience1year nurse tech hospital experience or skilled nursing facility is required if the candidate does not meet all of the educational requirements.Computer experience is required.Required Certifications/Registrations/LicensesN/AIn Lieu Of The Minimum Requirements Noted AboveIn lieu of school verification of a nursing assistant training course, will accept current or former South Carolina CN A certification as proof of completed state required training at time of hire. In lieu of school verification of a medical assistant training course, will accept current or former CMA certification as proof of completed required training at time of hire.Other Required ExperiencePrevious CNA or CMA or related experience preferred.NT: 2 years NT/NA experience is preferredEKG: 6 months EKG experience is preferred. Candidates must successfully complete Palmetto Health EKG course and training within 90 days of hire.PB: 3 months of phlebotomy experience is preferred.
