Together, we can make a significant difference in the lives of children and contribute to a brighter and healthier future for all.Summary:The Dispatcher leads the clinical team within the Access Center during their shift. Dispatchers use intricate knowledge of needed resources in order to ensure the deployment of appropriate units and to provide direction to ambulance and aircraft personnel. Due to the job being time-driven, dispatchers must perform several tasks at one time while maintaining a high level of accuracy. The Access Center Dispatcher uses excellent communication, multi-tasking and listening skills in order to ensure high quality, accurate job performance that supports Children's Health's mission to make life better for children.Responsibilities:* Works with a multi-disciplinary team across the healthcare system and medical community, utilizing excellent interpersonal skills to navigate the complexities of activating and deactivating crews. Uses a dispatch matrix to ensure the safety of patients by dispatching the appropriate transport team composition. Maintains knowledge of transport personnel capabilities, limitations, and the acuity guideline. Uses multiple types of software to perform duties including but not limited to those that activate the transport team, dispatch ambulances and pilots, and track ambulances and aircraft. Utilizes appropriate radio communications for all ambulances and aircraft.* The Dispatcher is the Lead for the shift and dispatches and tracks the transport vehicles, which includes the helicopter, fixed-wing and ground vehicles. Coordinates multiple aircraft landing at Children's Health to ensure safety on the helipad and direct communication to air medical teams and permission to land. Collaborates with the transport operational team leader/Manager on Call on all operational needs. Assigns the appropriate team and mode taking into account the patient's condition and location. Documents all aspects of ground and air transports in Rescue Net and appropriate forms. Coordinates with the pilots on airport and landing zone locations and arranges ground transfers for the transport team to and from airports/landing zones and hospitals as needed. Assures the safety of the transport team by establishing and maintaining communication.* Maintains updated knowledge of hospital processes and escalation procedures regarding denials, capacity considerations, contacting outside dispatching centers, internal communication, and Post Accident/Incident Plans (PAIP) activation. Maintains awareness of all Notices to Air Missions (NOTAMs) and the process to notify outside hospitals about our aircraft movement as well as radio communications with air and ground crews.* Activates the disaster back-up plan for the Access Center and implements the communications plan as well as the potential move to an emergency location.* Trains and educates new Access Center team members. Provides support and participates in both the Access Center and Transport quality improvement programs. Provides ongoing assistance with conflict resolution/problem solving within the Access Center. Actively participates in hospital-wide committees and task groups, as needed. Completes the end-of-shift report, participates in the daily Transport Safety Briefing, and manages pending EMS requests.Other information:WORK EXPERIENCE* At least 1 year job related experience ReqEDUCATION* High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training beyond high school Req* Completion of a paramedic or EMT program with licensure/certification ReqLICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS* Texas LP, Texas EMT-P, or Texas EMT Upon Hire Req* Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements Upon Hire Req* Certified Flight Communicator 6 months ReqA Place Where You BelongWe put our people first.
