DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION • Assist nursing staff /ancillary staff in the transfer of patients from bed to bed, stretcher or wheelchair. • Educate and train new staff members in the responsibilities of the Care Team Associate role. • Perform other duties as delegated by nursing staff and unit management as needed in both routine and emergent situations. • Responsible for accurate and timely entry of information into computerized bed-management system. • Transport patient via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed to destination. Includes taking patients to tests, transfers and discharges. • Transfer infusion pumps from pole to wheelchair, stretcher, and bed; Ensure equipment such as wheelchairs, stretchers, beds, infusion pumps, etc. are routinely cleaned and available for use; Retrieve, tag, and deliver broken equipment to repair shop. Deliver equipment back to unit once repaired. • Supply and exchange medical gases throughout the facility as needed. • Perform routine cleaning and stocking of medical carts. • May function as an equipment and inventory technician who cleans, monitors, and maintains routine respiratory care equipment throughout the hospital. • May complete unit/department-specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Strong customer orientation. Strong team orientation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. This position is very active and may require ambulating, remaining in a stationary position and positioning self to reach and/or move objects above the shoulders and below the knees. The employee may frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 lbs and occasionally move objects up to 25 lbs. This role may also routinely come into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
